Invited Speakers

Enrico Panai is an AI Ethicist and Human Information Interaction Specialist. Following his studies in philosophy and a multi-year experience as a consultant in Italy, he taught Digital Humanities in the Department of Philosophy at the University of Sassari. Since 2007 he works in France as a consultant for large corporations. In 2017, he studied Strategies for Cyber Security Awareness at the Institut National de Hautes Etudes de la Sécurité et de la Justice in Paris. He holds an university degree in Philosophy and a PhD in Cybergeography. In the professional field, he is the founder of the consultancy BeEthical.be, which works with large companies on AI and data ethics issues. In the standardization field, he is member of the French National Committee on AI, he is chair of AI-Enhanched Nudges and co-chair of the requirements on the competences of AI Ethicists at CEN CENELEC JTC21, the European body of standardization. In the non-profit sector, he is fellow and elected member of the board ForHumanity, dedicated to the development of Independent Audits for Artificial Intelligence, and from 2022 he is president of the Association of AI ethicists, an association for the promotion and protection of professional AI ethicists. His main research interests concern cybergeography, cyber wars, information ethics, data ethics, cybersecurity, human-information interaction, philosophy of information and semantic capital.

Dr. Katia Marcantonio is a senior expert in law and economics, with a particular focus on the regulation of network industries. Her academic journey includes studies at institutions such as Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (Belgium), the London School of Economics (MSc in Regulation), King’s College London (EU Law), La Sapienza University Rome, and the University of Pisa, where she earned her PhD in Comparative Regulation of Network Industries. She has gained extensive professional experience in both national and international regulatory environments, contributing to draft key policies and regulations and developing a sound ability to work on subjects which cut across borders, systems and cultures. She has worked at the UK Financial Services Authority (now the FCA, London), at the Italian Antitrust Authority (AGCM, Rome), and at the Italian Authority for Energy and Gas (now ARERA, Milan). From 2015 to 2018, she served as a Seconded National Expert in Riga. Currently, she is with AGCOM (Rome), the e-Communications and Digital Services Authority, where she is responsible for drafting in several international high level experts’ groups. Her contributions to academia and research include numerous publications on network industry and platform regulation. Dr. Marcantonio has also taught in master’s programs at several Universities, including the Politecnico in Milan, Suor Orsola Benincasa University in Naples, and Alma Mater Studiorum University in Bologna.
