{"id":473,"date":"2023-08-22T10:49:40","date_gmt":"2023-08-22T09:49:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hcai-ep.sigcseire.acm.org\/?page_id=473"},"modified":"2023-12-28T16:33:10","modified_gmt":"2023-12-28T16:33:10","slug":"deia","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/hcai-ep.sigcseire.acm.org\/2023\/deia\/","title":{"rendered":"DEIA"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Accessibility<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Code of Conduct<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">To set norms for the conference activities, the following code of conduct applies:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Please read the full <a href=\"https:\/\/www.acm.org\/special-interest-groups\/volunteer-resources\/officers-manual\/policy-against-discrimination-and-harassment\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.acm.org\/special-interest-groups\/volunteer-resources\/officers-manual\/policy-against-discrimination-and-harassment\">ACM Policy Against Harassment<\/a>, but here\u2019s the short version:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Be respectful<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>No harassment, discrimination, or abuse of any kind<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Be mindful of how others are being treated<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Alert the organizers if you see a problem<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition, we expect all attendees to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Avoid comments that reinforce social structures of domination (such as those related to gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, age, and religion).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Respect people\u2019s names and pronouns when addressing them. Using someone\u2019s correct personal pronouns is a way to respect them and create an inclusive environment, just as using a person\u2019s name can be a way to respect them: https:\/\/www.mypronouns.org\/<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>We encourage you to add your pronouns (They\/them, She\/her, He\/him, etc.).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In all social interactions, before engaging, we encourage you to introduce yourself. This helps us build our community; if we skip this step, it only supports existing relationships, rather than fostering new ones.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Behaviour such as the following will constitute grounds for actions against:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Abusive action directed at an individual, such as threats, intimidation, or bullying<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Racism, homophobia, and other behaviour that discriminates against a group or class of people<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sexual harassment of any kind, such as unwelcome sexual advances or words\/actions of a sexual nature&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>If you are involved in or witness any such incident, or if you are made uncomfortable, or you see someone else being made uncomfortable, please inform the conference organizer (Keith Nolan), or the DEIA Chair, Catherine Mooney (&#x63;&#x61;&#x74;&#x68;&#x65;&#x72;&#x69;&#x6e;&#x65;&#x2e;&#x6d;&#x6f;&#x6f;&#x6e;&#x65;&#x79;&#x40;<span class=\"oe_displaynone\">null<\/span>&#x75;&#x63;&#x64;&#x2e;&#x69;&#x65;). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This code of conduct is not exhaustive or final, it can be updated by the conference chairs at any time. Many thanks to the ICER 2021 organizing committee for their Code of Conduct, on which this was based.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Onsite Facilities<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>TU Dublin strives to be an inclusive University and values everyone\u2019s participation. If you have any dietary or accessibility requirements that may need to be facilitated kindly inform us in advance of the event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Accessible WC and gender-neutral facilities are located <a href=\"https:\/\/hcai-ep.sigcseire.acm.org\/2023\/attendees\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"566\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Multi-faith prayer room is located <a href=\"https:\/\/hcai-ep.sigcseire.acm.org\/attendees\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"566\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A \u201cquiet room\u201d will be available during the conference for anyone who would like to take a bit of time out, and\/or not engage in social interactions, etc., for a while during the conference. The quiet room is located <a href=\"https:\/\/hcai-ep.sigcseire.acm.org\/2023\/attendees\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"566\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>HCAI-EP is committed to providing a supportive, family-friendly environment that includes a culture that supports and raises awareness of breastfeeding. HCAI-EP is entirely breastfeeding-friendly and there are no restrictions on bottle or breastfeeding at the conference. Individuals are entitled to breastfeed in public places and do not have to ask anyone for permission to do so.
